Currently SARIA is providing news in both Urdu and English Language to more than 30 Pakistani Urdu Newspapers regularly, through Fax, E-mail and Bit-ware technology.

Many of the news items sent are placed prominently in various newspapers with the dateline of SARIA NEWS.

SARIA is collaborating with different Local and International News Agencies as well as with the TV Channels for News, Films & Documentaries and Research Oriented data exchange.

It is a very different and sensitive region of the world. In fact, other than South Asia, there is no region in the world where two rival nuclear powers are situated as neighboring countries. It has KASHMIR….which is an international flashpoint nowadays. More than one third of the world’s poor population lives in this region. That is the reason all seven countries of South Asia desperately need a strong mutual information network to know each other better.

SAARC...HIGHWAY TO PROSPERITY

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was established when its charter was formally adopted on December 8, 1985 by the Heads of State or Government of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

SAARC provides a platform for the people of South Asia to work together in a spirit of friendship, trust and understanding. It aims to accelerate the process of economic and social development in member states.

COOPERATION IN THE INOFRMATION SECTOR

The meeting of the SAARC Information Ministers held in Dhaka in 1998, adopted the Plan of Action on Information and Media which identified a number of activities to be undertaken by Member States, including to ensure a free flow of information, newspapers, journals, periodicals, books and other publications; to increase cooperation amongst news agencies of SAARC countries; to facilitate easier travel for media persons within the region; to set up a SAARC recognized Regional Media Forum; to hold annual conferences of editors and journalists; to promote regular exchanges of TV/Radio programs; to train media persons; to evolve guidelines on transnational satellites; to establish a SAARC satellite; and to consider setting up a SAARC information Center with Media Production, Research and Training units as well as a SAARC Media Development Fund.
